Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics

Degrees and Courses

The bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics prepares students for jobs in areas such as statistics, mathematical modeling, computational science, business management and consulting. It will also provide a strong foundation for graduate school in applied mathematics. Under this option students may choose to cluster upper division courses in Cryptology, Statistics, or Differential Equations.

Students pursuing the BS in Applied Mathematics may choose an emphasis in statistics by completing additional 9 credits in designated statistics courses. Students who completed an area of emphasis in statistics will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of statistical theory, techniques and methodologies, working with real data using computational software, and understanding of data analysis. An area of emphasis in statistics provides a window of job opportunities in business, government, industry and health sectors, and further studies in statistics.
