Groundwater Modeling

Idaho Department of Water Resources uses groundwater models to assist in administering water rights in several of Idaho’s basins. The models used by The Department are the result of a collaborative modeling process that allows stakeholders involvement. Although collaborative modeling generally results in a longer and more arduous calibration process, it keeps the calibration transparent and helps ensure that the calibration data are relevant to the modeling objectives. These points then will be highlighted during a case study of The Department’s yet to be released Wood River Valley Aquifer Model.
