Required: Mathematical Models in the Applied Sciences , by A.C. Fowler. We will cover Chapters 1-6, 8.

Recommended: Elements of Green's Functions and Propagation Potential, Diffusion and Waves, by G. Barton and A Guided Tour of Mathematical Methods for the Physical Sciences, by R. Snieder.

GRADING SCHEME:

Homework (70%) - There will be approximately five homework assignments, and their due dates are shown on the attached calendar . Late homework will not be accepted unless there are extraordinary circumstances.
Final exam (30%) - This will be a take home examination and students will be required to present the solutions the last week of class: December 7 and 9.
