MULTIVARIABLE  CALCULUS

Calculus: Early Transcendentals, edition 5e, by Stewart. We will cover Chapters 12-16.

GRADING SCHEME:

• 3 exams (45%) - All exams are taken in-class, and the dates are October 3, October 29, and December 7. Make-ups are not allowed, unless there are physician documented health reasons or other documented family difficulties.

• Homework (25%) - In general, one homework will be collected each Tuesday, as shown on the attached calendar . You are encouraged to collaborate with others, but you must hand in your own paper. Late homework will not be accepted unless there are extraordinary circumstances.

• In-class group work (5%) - Frequently, there will be group work during class. You may or may not be given a grade, but at the very least your participation will be recorded either through your group handing in the worksheet, or demonstrating your solution to the rest of the class.

• Final exam (25%) - The final is cumulative, and section 001 is scheduled for Monday December 17 from 10:30 to 12:30, section 002 for Wednesday December 19 from 1:00-3:00, both in our regular classroom. It is not possible to make up or re-schedule the final.

COMPUTER LABS:

There will be computer labs and homework problems for which you will need to use a computer algebra system.  During class we will use Maple, and labs will be held in MG 104.  You will have an account on the computers in MG 104 and a schedule of the lab hours will be handed out later in the semester.
