MATH 147 Homework Policy -- Fall 2006
Updated:
Fri Aug 18 14:01:46 MDT 2006
Homework is an important part of learning
mathematics and you need to schedule time for
homework every day.
Homework will be assigned frequently, collected,
corrected and returned. No grade will be assigned
to homework. If you choose not to hand in
homework, you will be expected to hand in a
notebook-sized piece of paper with your name on
it. I use returning homework as a method of
learning names, so I need a piece of paper from
each of you.
The problems that I assign are just barely
the minimum number
I believe you need to do in order that I can see if you
understand
the material.
You will need to work more problems
to develop skill and understanding.
Submissions must be neat.
The first time we have an assignment to hand in, I
will go over
such fascinating topics as
- how to fold the assignment
- where to write your name
- where to write which
class this is
- where to write the
assignment
number.
A numbered assignment may cover several different
text sections or
handouts.
For example, assignments #7 and #8 might
be assigned as follows:
Assignment #7 (Page
24: 16, 40)
(Page
32:
2, 8,
10)
Assignment
#8
(Page
32:
16,
24,
26,
48)
(Page
39:
2,
8,
12)
- Assume
that
#7
and
#8
are
going
to
be
checked
by
different
people.
- Hand
#7
in
as
a
stapled
unit.
- Hand
#8
in
as
a
separate
stapled
unit.
- Put #7 in the #7 pile and put #8 in the #8 pile.
- Do
not put #7 and #8 on the same paper.
- Do not staple
#7 and #8 to each other.
- Do not nest them one inside the
other.
Your submissions will likely not be checked or graded
if you trespass these rules.
