MATH 143 Exams and Calculators
Updated:
Sun Jan 6 06:57:21 MST 2008
Note that a graphing calculator is
required
for MATH 143
(and MATH 144 and MATH 147).
The on-line Graphing-Calculator Manual
furnishes calculator home-work problems and
also
advises on the TI calculators, TI-83, TI-86, and TI-89
(your graphing calculator does not have to be one
of these).
Click
here
to see the Graphing-Calculator Manual.
Generally major tests will come in two parts:
- A brief colored-page portion for which you
must have a working calculator.
This part
of the test is intended to be done in the first 10-15
minutes of the test period, or perhaps during
part of
the
period on the class day before the remainder of the exam.
- The major part of the test is the white-pages part on
which you are to use only your pencil and eraser.
- You may not use cell
phones or PDAs (such as Palm Pilots
or Pocket PC's) as calculators during any exam.
No exceptions
will be made. These machines have
communication capabilities
which are inappropriate in this context.
