Assignment #35 (Due Wednesday, 12/12/07)
Posted:
Mon Dec 10 15:41:07 MST 2007
Not-to-hand-in part.
Raise questions at the start of
class if your answer doesn't agree with the BOB
answer. You can give us all a head start on answering
questions if you start writing up the question on the
board before class.
- 9.4: 15, 21
- 9.4: 23, 27 (Make equation 2 be your first row
1 in both problems)
- 9.4: 39
To-hand-in part: click
here for a sheet of problems. For us, problems
1, 2, and 5:
- Problem 1: I suggest you make equation 3 be
your first row 1.
- Problem 2: check the example on page 7 of the
Monday in-class handout (click here for a
copy.
Assignment #34 (Due Monday, 12/10/07)
Posted:
Fri Dec 7 13:27:31 MST 2007
Not-to-hand-in part.
Raise questions at the start of
class if your answer doesn't agree with the BOB
answer. You can give us all a head start on answering
questions if you start writing up the question on the
board before class.
- 9.7: 29, 31, 33
- Here are some for which Cramer will not
work: 9.2: 19, 21, 23, 25. Such systems can
either be
- parallel lines (so no crossing point)
- identical lines (infinitely many
crossing points)
For each of these "Cramer failers," see if you
can decide whether it's a no-solutions
situation...

Assignment #33 (Due Friday, 12/7/07)
Posted:
Wed Dec 5 13:25:51 MST 2007
Not-to-hand-in part.
Raise questions at the start of
class if your answer doesn't agree with the BOB
answer. You can give us all a head start on answering
questions if you start writing up the question on the
board before class.
- 4.5: 7-12 are really Assignment-#27
problems -- no e allowed. For instance,
the 7(b) BOBA has e, but Assignment #27
does without any e.
To-hand-in part:
- 4.5: 6 (continuously compounding at APR =
18%)
- 4.5: 8, 10 (essentially Assignment-#27
problems)
- 4.5: 14, 22 (no e allowed: these are
also #27 problems)
- Modify problem 4.5: 24 by removing the
sentence "It has been ... measured in hours"
and replacing it with these data:
- At 6 AM the body temperature was 81°F
- At 10 AM the body temperature was
74°F
Again, no e allowed.

In addtion, label the
intercepts, if any, with their algebraic exact

Assignment #3 (Due Friday, 8/31/07)
Posted:
Mon Aug 27 09:32:09 MDT 2007
This is another not-to-turn-in assignment. It is to
do the 1.1 and 1.2 problems on pages 190 and 191 of
the graphing-calculator manual (see link above).
Problems 13-16 on page 191 are among your
instructor's personal favorites, although problems
1-12 are likely more important.
Most calculator-manual assignments will be not to
turn in. But such questions will appear on
end-of-class quizzes and on tests.
