Math 108 M2

Spring 2012
Intermediate Algebra

The following classes are designed using Course Compass (MyMathLab) and are similar to previous M108 classes from the last few years. Your course Compass code is listed by your class.

Please be aware that once you open your software package, it can not be returned. You might want to wait until the first day of class to open the software package.

Below is the course code required to log into Course Compass. It would be very helpful if everyone has purchased a textbook bundle at the BSU bookstore or is ready to buy access online the first day of class. (If this cannot be accomplished please let your instructor know the first day of class.) The syllabus will be available to you once you have created your MyMathLab account.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gary Hagerty
Director of the MLC

Group Activities:

To the Students: Group activities will take place one a week in MG119. Our goal is to create activities which directly connect mathematics to your major and how your major may use mathematics (as related to math 108) in their courses. As the majority of our students Business and STEM (Science, Engineering and Technology) majors, we have created a different set of activities for each group. Business major activities are based on math that should appear in 100 and 200 level business courses. STEM activities are based math that will appear in 100 and 200 level biology, chemistry and physics courses as this group of students will be enrolling in several of these courses. We realize that we have other majors in the class and are working on designing activities for these majors. Please choose the activity most appropriate for you. We are working on both expanding our activities to additional majors as well as potentially expanding the activities we have already completed to relate to subgroups within the group. At this time, we are piloting activities for Elemenatry Education majors based on the Math taught in Math 157. These are being written and reveiwed by the Math-Ed faculty and changes are expected at a regular interval. Also, while our goal is to complete a draft of activities for the entire semester, this may not happen, in which case, we expect the Elemetary Education major to complete the semster using the Business activities.
