The Method of Minimal Walks

Justin Moore

Boise State University

Abstract

This talk will give an introduction to the first uncountable cardinal and some of the combinatorics and set theory associated with it. The method of minimal walks was developed by Todorcevic both to solve specific problems and to give a unified method for analyzing the first uncountable cardinal. The aim of the talk will be to give a "light" introduction to this method and mention some of the ways in which it can be used.
