Learning Module Instructions

Don't purchase the Learning Module until you read these tips:
  1. The learning module will cost $30.00.
  2. If you have already used your free assessment and your reassessment, you must purchase the learning module to obtain further assessments.
  3. If you purchase the learning module you will be guaranteed at least one more assessment. It will be scheduled to start at 6:00 pm on the day of the deadline. This will allow you to assess before the midnight deadline.
  4. WARNING: The learning module consists mostly of practice problems. Except for the last scheduled assessment, the only way to get additional assessments is to work practice problems until the ALEKS program decides you are ready for reassessment. WORK LOTS OF PRACTICE PROBLEMS!.
  5. Your purchase will give you 6 weeks of access to the ALEKS learning module. Do not purchase the learning module until you are ready to make use of your access.
  6. Once you begin the Learning Module, ALEKS will present you with options for what type of problem you want to practice. You can select problem types by mousing over the slices of the pie chart or by clicking on the "What you are ready to learn" links below the pie chart.
  7. Pick something and get to work. ALEKS will help you out with mistakes and will also provide some examples. After you get a particular type of problem right three times in a row you have to move on to something new.
  8. After you spend enough time on practice problems, ALEKS will return you to assessment mode. "Enough" is determined by ALEKS based on your total assessed knowledge and your progress on new problem types. There is no way to know when your next assessment will come. Just get to work.
  9. If at any point you post an assessment that meets the minimum for your course this score will count and you will have completed the requirement. Also, the Math Department will refund one half of your purchase price.
Purchase the Learning Module by following these steps:
  1. Go to www.aleks.com/boisestate.
  2. Login using the same login name and password that you got with your first assessment. (Do not click on Sign Up Now).
  3. Click on ">>Prep for Calculus" under the Learning Modules header.
  4. Click on "purchase an access code online".
  5. Follow the purchasing instructions. Your purchase is non-refundable.
  6. You will receive a 20-character code. Write it down. It will also be emailed to you.
  7. Go back to the "Enter Your Access Code" window. It will still be open. Enter your 20-character code.
