Spring 2012 ALEKS Assessment Information
- Students enrolled in Math 170 for
Spring 2012 must complete the ALEKS assessment before
midnight on Monday, January 23, 2012.
- Students in Math 147
are NOT required to take the ALEKS assessment.
- This is a graded, online, take home exam.
Failure to meet the minimum required assessment score will
result in a grade of zero for this exam. The effect on your
overall class grade will be to lose one full letter grade.
- Assessments from prior
semesters are not valid. This assessment is for your Spring 2012, Math
170 class. Assessments from other classes do not count.

Your initial assessment if prepaid. You can begin anytime.
Once you begin your assessment you
have one week to complete it.

- If you are still enrolled at the fee paying deadline
(January 30, 2012) your fees will include a small charge
to cover the costs of administering the ALEKS assessment
program.

- Students enrolled in Math 170 are required
to obtain a minimum ALEKS assessment score of 70% by the 5th day
of enrollment (January 23, 2012).
- If your first assessment is below 70% you can, and should,
reassess. There are two ways to reassess.
- A one-time reassessment is available for $5.00. This
is recommended if your first assessment was close to 70%.

- A learning module is available for $30.00. This is
recommended if your first assessment was well below 70%.
This is required if you have already used your one-time
reassessment.

- Students are encouraged to assess early to ensure that they have
ample opportunity to meet the minimum score.
- Students who fail to meet the assessment target are
strongly encouraged to switch to the prerequisite course
(Math 144 or Math 147).
- Students who fail to meet the minimum score but choose to
remain enrolled will lose one full letter grade from their
final course grade.
