Frances Wetherall (1894-95)

Contralto Elizabeth Frances Wetherall made her first appearance on stage in the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus of The Chieftain at the Savoy Theatre (December 1894-March 1895), where she was reportedly understudy to Rosina Brandram.
After leaving the D'Oyly Carte, she toured the British provinces for a spell as Dame Hecla Cortlandt in "Gilbert & Carr's "His Excellency" with J. W. Boughton's Company.
Returning to London, at the Lyric in January 1896, she was a solo singer in The Sign of the Cross, than spent several further years touring, mainly with the F. R. Benson Company (1896-1901). She remained active in the musical and legitimate theatre for the rest of her life, both in London and on tour. She visited Australia and South Africa (1912-14) and Holland (1919-20).
Her last appearance on the London Stage was as Mrs. Bebb in the comedy At Mrs. Beam's (Royalty, April-December 1923).
