Michael Tuckey (1968-73) [Born Warwick 1 July 1942] Baritone Michael John Tuckey performed with four amateur musical societies and the professional Black and White minstrels before joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company as a chorister in September 1968. As understudy to several principal baritone roles, he deputized on occasion as Strephon in Iolanthe (1969-72), Pish-Tush in The Mikado (1969-71), Counsel for the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury (1970-72), and Giuseppe in The Gondoliers (1970-72). Tuckey took over the role of Pish-Tush in September 1971 following the untimely death of John Webley, playing it until he left the Company in June 1973. He was married for a time to D'Oyly Carte chorister Susan Mosco. |
