THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANYRose Smith (1885, 1887?) Rose Smith toured with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "C" (Repertory) Company in 1885, appearing as Gladys, the draper's niece, in the Frank Desprez & Edward Solomon "vaudeville" Round & Square, that played with H.M.S. Pinafore from April to July 1885. A Miss Smith, possibly Rose, later served as a chorister with Carte's Continental Company on tour in Germany, Austria, and Holland from April to September 1887. |
