Will Cowley (a.m.d., 1963-74) [Born Douglas, Isle of Man 4 Dec 1926, died Douglas, Isle of Man 2 May 2003] William Frederick Cowley began his musical career as an accompanist, as well as playing the flugelhorn and cornet in brass bands. He conducted choirs and opera on a free-lance basis in London before joining the music staff of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1961. In 1963 he became assistant musical director, a position he held until April 1974. |
