Cylinder Preservation and Digitisation Project — With funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the UCSB Libraries have created a digital collection of over 6,000 cylinder recordings held by the Department of Special Collections. In an effort to bring these recordings to a wider audience, they can be freely downloaded or streamed online. On this site you will have the opportunity to find out more about the cylinder format, listen to thousands of musical and spoken selections from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and discover a little-known era of recorded sound. There are transcriptions of early recordings of Gilbert and Sullivan.

European Light Music Site — this site by Andrew Lamb is devoted to classical European light music and musical theatre.

The Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music — Digitised copies of early American editions of sheet music. There are numerous pieces by Sullivan to be found including songs and selections from the operas.

Victorian and Edwardian Musicals. Colin Johnson has resurrected numerous long-forgotten but tuneful musicals of the era as MIDI Files.

The Operetta Research Centre Amsterdam is an initiative and developed out of the work of musicologist dr. Kevin Clarke. The emphasis lies on the examination of the so called "Silver Operetta", works from 1905 to 1945 but there are some articles on Gilbert and Sullivan.

National Operatic and Dramatic Association — NODA was founded in 1899 "to protect and advance the interests of Operatic and Dramatic Art, and of Societies engaged therein." Theatre and Performance at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Following the closure of the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden, the Victoria and Albert Museum has taken over responsibility for its collections. This site contains a lot of information and images relating to the history of British Theatre in general and has some interesting documents relating to early D'Oyly Carte history.

Hinge and Bracket were two elderly ladies who travelled round the country reminiscing about their days in the Rosa Charles Opera Company and the operas they performed (including most of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas!). They also had successful radio and television series in the UK.

Fun — From 1862 to 1871 Gilbert was a regular contributor to this magazine, the best of the many competitors to Punch. This magazine is now available on line as part of the University of South Florida Digital Collection.
