Topics

The workshop will be devoted to lectures (50 minutes), talks (25 minutes) and discussions on topics such as combinatorics of open covers, selection principles, selective versions of topological properties, games … ( for more detailed description of these topics one can consult the web site http://iunona.pmf.ukim.edu.mk/~spm )

The first day will be devoted especially to the presentation of general aspects of the main topics.

A further discussion on Sunday morning (June 30) will allow those participants who are interested in collaboration to plan common research activity and possibly new future meetings on the same topics.

Venue

The workshop will take place in the Department of Mathematics of the University of Lecce.

This is located on a campus, mainly in its oldest part, Collegio Fiorini, very close to the town Monteroni and well connected to Lecce by special buses. A bus stop is located at 300 m from the railway station in Lecce; free tickets will be provided to all the participants.

Arrivals

Lecce is connected by good trains (6 hours from Rome, 8 hours from Bologna, 10 hours from Milano) and slower (cheaper) ones to the biggest towns in Italy and it is connected by a special bus to the airport of Brindisi (40 km.).

The hotel Grand Hotel where (likely) all the participants will be lodged is very close (50 m) to the railway station in Lecce.

Participants will be registered in Grand Hotel on their arrival.

Registration

Those who intend to participate in the workshop should send, possibly by the end of May, a registration form (described below) which will consist of an e-mail message to the address

     guido@ilenic.unile.it

or of an ordinary mail message to the address

     Cosimo Guido
Dipartim. di Matematica- Univers. di Lecce
     C.P. 193
     73100  LECCE  (Italy)

This message should contain: name, addresses, title of a possible talk (for sending an abstract see instructions below) date of arrival and departure, request of possible free accommodation.

Confirmation of receipt of the registration form and acceptance of these requests will be sent as soon as possible.

 Accommodation and Meals

Due to financial support of the University of Lecce, we can provide free accommodation and meals to a number of participants, mainly including invited participants and besides these on a first request via registration-first-serve basis.

Accommodation (26.29 June), breakfast (27-30 June) and dinner (26-29 June) will be provided in the hotel Grand Hotel in Lecce. Lunch (27-30 June) will be served in the restaurant Lo Scacciapensieri in Monteroni.

Those participants who prefer a different accommodation (at their own expenses) can request a list of hotels from  guido@ilenic.unile.it.

 Abstracts

Abstracts of lectures and talks should be submitted, by June, 12 at

   http://at.yorku.ca/cgi-bin/amca/submit/cajd-01

and can be viewed at

  http://at.yorku.ca/cgi-bin/amca/cajd-01

Proceedings

A volume of the journal Note di Matematica will be devoted to the topics of the workshop. It will collect papers related to the activity of the workshop such as lectures, talks and other contributions. Each paper will be evaluated by two referees.

Participants:  Anyone planning to participate in this workshop, please contact an organizer as soon as possible with this information. The following mathematicians have indicated that they will participate in the workshop:
