Games in Topology

The
workshop will be devoted to lectures (50 minutes), talks (25 minutes) and
discussions on topics such as combinatorics of open covers, selection
principles, selective versions of topological properties, games … ( for more
detailed description of these topics one can consult the web site http://iunona.pmf.ukim.edu.mk/~spm
)
The
first day will be devoted especially to the presentation of general aspects of
the main topics.
A
further discussion on Sunday morning (June 30) will allow those participants
who are interested in collaboration to plan common research activity and
possibly new future meetings on the same topics.

The
workshop will take place in the Department of Mathematics of the University of
Lecce.
This
is located on a campus, mainly in its oldest part, Collegio Fiorini, very close to the town Monteroni and well
connected to Lecce by special buses. A bus stop is located at 300 m from the
railway station in Lecce; free tickets will be provided to all the
participants.
Lecce
is connected by good trains (6 hours from Rome, 8 hours from Bologna, 10 hours
from Milano) and slower (cheaper) ones to the biggest towns in Italy and it is
connected by a special bus to the airport of Brindisi (40 km.).
The
hotel Grand
Hotel where (likely) all the participants will be lodged is very close
(50 m) to the railway station in Lecce.
Participants
will be registered in Grand Hotel on their arrival.
Those
who intend to participate in the workshop should send, possibly by the end of
May, a registration form (described below) which will consist of an e-mail

an abstract see instructions below) date of arrival and departure, request of

of receipt of the registration form and acceptance of these requests will be
sent as soon as possible.
Accommodation and Meals
Due
to financial support of the University of Lecce, we can provide free
accommodation and meals to a number of participants, mainly including invited
participants and besides these on a first request via registration-first-serve
basis.
Accommodation
(26.29 June), breakfast (27-30 June) and dinner (26-29 June) will be provided
in the hotel Grand Hotel in Lecce. Lunch (27-30 June) will be served in the
restaurant Lo Scacciapensieri in
Monteroni.
Those
participants who prefer a different accommodation (at their own expenses) can
request a list of hotels from guido@ilenic.unile.it.
